The Consonance began as six Jazz students from Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton, Alberta, meeting for a carefree jamming environment. They began writing songs and quickly formed the hip-hop/jazz band called The Consonance. With smooth melodic lines, catchy lyrics, and danceable grooves, The Consonance captivates their audiences. Sensing great chemistry early in their songwriting process, they began recording and gigging immediately. The Consonance quickly recorded and released their first EP the “More Alive EP” in March 2009. Along with constantly writing new material, The Consonance is playing numerous cover and original shows all over Alberta. Playing a mix of funk, rock, pop, hip hop, jazz, country, and blues, The Consonance can pull the right songs for any occasion. With a drummer that raps while playing, a saxophone player that doubles on the violin, and the occasional full band vocal harmony, The Consonance is an exciting, and original band ready to spice up any event.
