Colin Close is a fifth-generation Yukoner; born and raised in the north. Growing up in a log home just outside of Whitehorse provided him with an endless world to explore. When he finally picked up the guitar at age 13, all his years of wandering and exploring started to come out in a very natural musical fashion. And he continues to wander and explore with his guitar and notebook always nearby. Some have coined his sound as folk-Canadiana, but he counters in his claim as being an ‘aspiring singer, song-writer and shameless hat wearer’. Growing up, he was listening to and being inspired by Canadian artists like Blue Rodeo and Stompin’ Tom Connors as well as old blues singers like Muddy Waters and T-Bone Walker. Colin played Flippers’ East Coast Pub this past summer in Whitehorse, Yukon with fellow Yukoner and close friend, Patrick RJ Lethbridge and friends during a night of Midnight Sun Fun. Locally, in Edmonton, Colin has played open mic stages at Naked Cyber Cafe, The Druid, and Rouge Lounge, hosted by friends and fellow musicians, Darrek Anderson and Chris Wynters. Colin has played a showcase at Play Nightclub, with friends Bobby Craig and Bronze Leaf. “Instantly well received by both the performing community and his ever growing audience;” says Bobby Craig, “he’s cementing his position as one of Edmonton’s most genuine artists.” Most recently, Colin appeared at The Haven Social Club, opening for Billy the Kid. A show that has enforced his direction in the industry and helped him grow into his place on-stage. Colin is currently working on his debut album ‘Live From The Living Room’.
