Drowning Ophelia
Drowning Ophelia is a young alternative pop duo made of twin sisters Candace & Karli Schiebelbein. Their catchy & melodic songs reflect influences from country music to Latin to classic rock. With classical & jazz training & a pop music sensibility this duo proves to be a dynamic combination for songwriting and playing live. Growing up, Candace and Karli were surrounded and influenced by a variety of musical styles. Their parents played with an oldies/country band while two other siblings played 90’s cover songs. This inspired them to start writing songs at a young age and throughout their teens Candace and Karli would perform anywhere they could. Joining the church choir and playing community talent shows helped plant the seed that would eventually grow into the true vision of Drowning Ophelia. In 2003, the twins decided to further their music career and move from rural Saskatchewan to Edmonton, Alberta. In 2004 the girls recorded their first demo CD at High Voltage Recording in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Recently they have won a Battle of the bands in Emonton, put on by Supernova.com and in August began recording their debut album to be released in spring 2008.
